We’ve recently enjoyed a brilliant music workshop with our residents here at Bromley Park Care Home. Our ladies and gents loved it! Everyone chose an instrument and joined in as we played along to some beloved classics – ‘Roll out the Barrel‘, ‘Daisy‘ and ‘My old Man’s a Dustman‘ to name a few. It was really good fun and our mega-musical residents had an absolute ball. We had lots of laughter and plenty of volume – who could ask for more?
We also played a few rounds of Giant Dominoes, and it was wonderful to see our experienced residents showing us how it’s done! It’s always a joy when they take the lead, sharing their skills and passions with such patience and pride. Moments like these strengthen the special bonds we share and remind us that care is truly about connection and togetherness.
Next up was some friendly competition with our bat and ball games. Our sporty residents take their games seriously and the atmosphere was electric — like a Wimbledon final! There was laughter and plenty of good sportsmanship. Thankfully, it ended in a draw, so everyone left feeling like a winner.
We were also deeply moved during our Remembrance celebrations this year, when we were joined by the wonderful D-Day Dollies. Their beautiful performance featured songs from our residents’ childhoods and early teens, bringing back a flood of precious memories. Though those wartime years were challenging and often frightening, our brave and loving residents embraced the music with warmth and reflection – singing along and sharing in a moment of remembrance together.
It was truly a special day for a special time. Watching our residents smile, sing and remember was profoundly moving – a reminder of how important it is to cherish the past and those who lived it. Lest we forget.
Birthday celebrations
We’ve also celebrated three resident birthdays recently and our talented kitchen team has been busy baking up a storm! Each resident enjoyed a day planned especially for them — with thoughtful touches from family members and our brilliant team. Every celebration was as unique as the person we were honouring, complete with a delicious homemade cake to match.
Spoiling our amazing residents on their special days brings us such joy. Seeing their faces light up as we light the candles and sing ‘Happy birthday‘ makes our day just as much as it makes theirs.
