Compassionate care highlighted through training at Bromley Park Care Home

Oliver McGowan Training

We are proud to share that our first group of Bromley Park Care Home team members has successfully completed Oliver McGowan Tier 2 Training in Learning Disability and Autism – an important milestone in strengthening inclusive, compassionate care across our Home.

This nationally recognised training is designed to ensure health and social care professionals have the understanding, confidence and practical skills needed to support autistic people and individuals with a learning disability safely and respectfully. By completing Tier 2 training, our Bromley Park team members have deepened their awareness of communication needs, reasonable adjustments and person-centred approaches, helping to ensure every resident is supported as an individual.

The training is named in memory of Oliver McGowan, whose story brought national attention to the urgent need for improved education across health and social care services. Following extensive campaigning led by Oliver’s mother, Paula McGowan, the importance of learning disability and autism training was formally recognised in law.

The Oliver McGowan Training is the government-recommended programme developed by people with lived experience, families and professionals, ensuring it remains grounded, practical and meaningful for those delivering care every day.

Completing this training reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous learning, high standards and providing care that is informed and respectful to individual needs.

Congratulations to Wendy

Alongside this achievement, we are delighted to celebrate our team member Wendy, who has successfully completed her Healthcare Cleaning Operative training and received her certificate.

Wendy’s dedication and commitment to learning play a vital role in maintaining a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone in our Home. Her achievement is well deserved, and we are incredibly proud of her.

Wendy from Bromley Park Care Home receiving her Healthcare Cleaning Operative training certificate.
