Care Home in Bromley

Welcome to Bromley Park Care Centre; a specialist nursing and dementia care home in a residential area of Bromley on the Kent-London border.

Respite Care this Christmas – available now

On your own this festive season? Or going away over Christmas and want your loved one looked after? We provide 24-hour care in homely and secure surroundings, with great food, tailored activities and highly-skilled staff. Pop in or call us to discuss our respite care packages – and let us take the stress out of Christmas.

Home from home

Bromley Park is a grand Georgian building, refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining many wonderful period features. Our rooms are spacious and bright with wide corridors and lift access making it easy to move around the Home. We personalise each bedroom and encourage residents to bring their own furnishings, special knick-knacks and photographs to make a familiar and homely environment that they feel comfortable in.

Our three lounges are large with modern, yet traditional décor, comfortable seats, and doors that open out onto the garden – perfect for socialising, enjoying activities or spending time with family and friends. Our garden is often used for tending to the flowers and vegetables, sharing a picnic or simply enjoying the fresh air. We’re also very proud of our tomato plants which our Chef is quick to take from the greenhouse and put to good use in the kitchen!

A holistic approach

We take a holistic approach to the care and well-being of all our residents and work hard to create an environment that feels like a real ‘home from home’. We’re also excited to offer ‘Interactive Me’; an online memory toolbox packed full of photos, music and videos all about your loved one. It creates an amazing talking point, sparks conversation and allows Carers to really get to know our residents so much better.

Bromley Park is also proud to be following the Gold Standards Framework training programme to support its commitment to providing outstanding standards of care.

Resident of the Day

Our ‘Resident of the Day’ initiative helps each member of the team understand residents’ likes, dislikes and the things that really make a difference to them. All staff whether Carers, Nurses, Housekeepers or Maintenance find out what’s important to each individual and give them the opportunity to pick their favourite meal for Chef to prepare, choose an activity they would like to do or add any special touches to their room. Family members are invited to be part of these reviews and we always give feedback when their loved one has been Resident of the Day.

Recreation and leisure

On any given day our Home is a filled with activity and entertainment. Whether this be visits from our regular singers, dancers and petting zoos or firm favourites such as bingo and karaoke. Our ‘Bromley Park’s Got Talent’ show definitely brings out the best in both residents and staff and showcases all manner of hidden talents! Our minibus is also on hand for trips to the park, browsing the shops, lunch at the local coffee shop, watching a film at the cinema and visits to the golf course.

Wholesome homemade food

Our wonderful team of Cooks create homemade meals every day and work closely with our Nutritional Therapist, Leni, to make sure that dietary needs and personal preferences are catered for. As we all ‘eat with our eyes’ first, we cook display plates for the dishes-of-the-day (meat, vegetarian and soft food options) before mealtimes to encourage personal choice.

We also create ‘taster menus’ with fresh ingredients and seasonal produce and invite residents (and their relatives) to join us for tasting sessions to maintain the quality and variety of our menus.

In the dining room our ‘Hydration Station’ allows residents to enjoy an array of fresh, cool drinks throughout the day. Mealtimes are relaxed and sociable with table service and support from our Dining Assistants. However, residents can of course choose to eat their meals wherever they feel comfortable.

Namaste and Well-Being Care at Bromley Park

As a qualified Complementary Therapist, Linda Haynes works as part of the Nellsar Well-Being Team providing relaxing treatments to residents here at Bromley Park Care Home. Linda uses touch to connect with people living with Dementia, while working with specially blended essential oils and soothing massage techniques to ease tension and anxiety. According to an individual’s needs, Linda also uses breathing and gentle joint exercises when providing treatments to our residents. Namaste sessions are a key part in our strive to promote the well-being of our residents and enhance their quality of life.

Dedicated staff team

Home Manager, Catherine, has over 20 years’ experience on both sides of the pond – in America and the UK – and after training and working in many areas of nursing, found her passion for dementia care. She believes that the beauty of being a Manager is to make a difference every day and she achieves this with the support of dedicated staff who all play an important role in the day-to-day care and well-being of our residents.

Family and friends are always welcome

We love to have a full and varied calendar of events and welcome family and friends to join us for special days. Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated with cake and treats, and all our staff and residents enjoy getting involved with Easter, Valentines and Christmas to name but a few!

A ‘Memory Wall’ is displayed in the entrance to our Home to show relatives and visitors all the wonderful events and activities their loved ones have been taking part in. We also generate some healthy competition with our sister Homes by taking part in regular Nellsar competitions such as ‘Nellsar in Bloom’ in the summer months and charity fundraising events throughout the year.

We welcome you to visit us at any time. If you would like any further information, please call us on
0208 650 5504 to speak to Catherine or a member of our team.

Mark began working at Bromley Park Care Home in 2016 and has managed all maintenance requirements throughout the Home and gardens ever since. A self-professed ‘Jack of all trades’, he also drives the Homes’ minibus when residents take an outing and lends a hand to anyone in need, including helping the Maintenance staff at other nearby Nellsar Care Homes. Mark has enjoyed extensive training throughout his time at Bromley Park for his maintenance responsibilities and he is proud to fulfil multiple roles throughout the Home. The varied role is what Mark most enjoys about his job and he is delighted to see that, through his hard work, the Home is looking cleaner and more refreshed. Having seen the evolution of a better working environment and higher calibre of staff over the years, Mark also enjoys the social aspect of working among the other staff and residents in the Home. Looking to the future, Mark looks forward to maintaining the high standards at Bromley Park and consistently improving the home environment for everyone who lives and works there.

Clare Man

Business Support Officer, Bromley Park Care Home

Clare joined the team at Bromley Park Care Home in February 2017 as a part-time Administrator and with the support of the senior team has progressed to become their Business Support Officer and Training Manager. As part of the training team, Clare is passionate about the Nellsar Training Academy which provides staff with valuable mandatory training, which in turn, raises the standard of services provided to their residents. As a keen Photographer, Clare takes wonderful pictures of the residents at Bromley Park at the Home’s parties and events. Clare cites her greatest achievement as watching her role develop to incorporate a multitude of different tasks. Every day is different, and Clare feels very proud that her photographs of the residents and events in the Home have been used in the Nellsar Care Homes marketing, including the corporate newsletter and website. What Clare most loves about working at Bromley Park is the residents and staff; Being able to spend time with residents, being part of the staff team who work together as a cohesive team, and witnessing the love they give to residents really makes her day.

Donna Hough

Non-Clinical Deputy Manager, Bromley Park Care Home

Donna joined the Bromley Park Care Home team in 2013 as a part-time Administrator and over the years she has progressed to Services Manager, then to Facilities Manager, and now works as the Non-Clinical Deputy Manager. Donna loves working closely with the residents and takes great joy from seeing her colleagues promoted to the next level, while being a part of the positive changes they bring. As a Deputy Manager, Donna is inspired by the unique people she works with and loves working towards one common goal – providing the best possible care and home environment for their residents. Now with the Nellsar Training Academy, and all-round improvements to staff training, Donna is looking forward to seeing the Home’s staff develop into their roles and careers even more in the future. Citing her greatest achievements as working in a role that she loves and using the experience she has gained in all her different roles, Donna most looks forward to implementing a ‘Wish List’ scheme; Finding more ways to transform the Home and consistently develop the services and home environment for Bromley Park’s residents.
