As part of the coronation celebrations at Bromley Park Care Home, we entered a Nellsar-wide competition to design and make an eye-catching coronation crown.
Heading up the competition, Nellsar’s Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv Stead commented: “The idea was to involve our residents in making something beautiful and memorable to display in their Home or garden that could be enjoyed by everyone for the coronation.”
Our residents and staff worked together to make a magnificent large hanging crown decoration for our conservatory. Samantha, Louisa and Douglas from our team all helped with hours of tissue crumpling and jewel making to design a crown fit for all our kings and queens at Bromley Park. Our residents Dorothy, Brenda and Rita added the finishing touches to our amazing crown entry, which Colin and Ellen did a fine job of modelling!
We are delighted to announce that our wonderful crown was awarded FIRST PLACE in the competition and we are thrilled to have won £300 for our residents’ fund.
The judges commented: ‘A huge crown painted and decorated with handmade jewels and Union Jack hearts made from red, white and blue buttons. The team suspended it from the ceiling for all to see, together with Union Jack flags made from tissue paper. A fantastic centrepiece. Well done!’
